Moving from Boston to Syracuse, how to handle car insurance?

billionaiire asked:

I have a move out planned in August. My current car insurance company isn’t approved in Syracuse, NY. What are the key steps to take to transfer to a new insurance?

a) Is ALLSTATE a good insurance company?

b) How do you deal with your old plates?

c) and how to deal with the yearly auto tax that I need to pay for 2008 after I move? Can I go and tell MA RMV guys to change my address so they can reach me at NY?

    a) get a better insurance. See this it’s one form to get a number of quotes from different insurers. It’s free and a big time saver, these are all the main American insurers competing to get your business so you are bound to find something that suits you
    b) register in NY then if they don’t do it themselves (in some states they do) send them back to MA (via registered post)
    c) yes
